St Clements Mosman

Anglicare Counselling service

A counselling service for individuals, couples and families is now available through St Clement’s Mosman. St Clement’s is providing the funding for an experienced ANGLICARE counsellor, Jo Manouk, to be based at Mosman one day a week. Senior Minister, Stuart Smith says, “For us, this is a way of serving what we see as a great need in the local community for family and grief counselling. “Jo has experience helping people with anxiety, depression and identity issues as well as relationships and grief. “As an ANGLICARE counsellor, Jo works for a Christian organisation in partnership with St Clement’s but you don’t have to be a Christian to use the service.” For more information, or to make an initial appointment, phone St Clement’s Anglican Church on (02) 9968 1699.

The Perfect Parent

Who is the perfect parent for children with autism? Blackballoon

That’s what Kate Hurley shared as she introduced a sold out screening of 'The Black Balloon' at the Cremorne Orpheum. Kate is a member of St Clement's and a local Mosman mother of 3 children, one of whom is autistic, and author of the recently published "Take Heart - For families living with disability”.

Admitting that she was not the “perfect parent”, but revealing that she knew the one who is, Kate shared some of her family’s experiences of joy, grief and hope.

With honesty, humour and humility, Kate’s moving reflections set the scene for ‘The Black Balloon’ (2008 AFI award for 'Best Film'), portraying the story of Thomas and his autistic brother Charlie. Hosted by St Clement’s, the event raised over $2800 for "Giant Steps", a charity which help families with autistic children.
