CLUB FLYING SITES
The Latrobe Valley Model Aero Club currently has 2 power
Model flying sites and 2 Slope Gliding sites in the area from Traralgon to
Drouin. Another site at the Blue Rock Dam is also under consideration but has a
few restrictions and is not a good site for anyone who may be learning as most
of the flying is done over the Lake facing into the sun. The roadway in &
out can be affected by rain and may be boggy at times !
1 Lake Narracan near Moe/Newborough - This site is
now the LVMAC's major flying Site and development began in 2000. It now has a
120m X 50m mowed grass strip and is suitable for Powered models and Thermal
gliders. We also have a small beach and Jetty that is suitable to fly float
planes from . There are 3 gates to go through and the first & third gates
are normally locked. Club members can buy a key for access to this site (see
the club secretary or treasurer). Parking space for major events is limited but
no problem on normal weekends. Last one out should always lock the gates.
NOTE: No Model
flying on days of total fire ban in the Eastern Region, at any of the Club
Sites.
No Flying before
7.00am onWeek days and 9.00am on Weekends & Public Holidays

2 Tyers - A slope soaring site that we call NO
PINE is located on the Tyers - Yallourn North Rd, above the old open cut mine.
This is also private property and care should be taken when getting through the
fence.

3 Warragul - This site is
on private property opposite the old drive-in site (which is now called the
Lillico Garden Railway). Entry is up a laneway past the house and there are 2
gates to be left as found. This site is suitable for all powered models and
Thermal gliders and is a little tight.(trees, etc) Noise is a problem here and
self imposed restrictions are in force. Often there are cattle on this property
so always shut the gates.
This land has been sold and is due for development in the
very near future so our days of flying at this site are numbered. This site
also has problems with access when it has been raining
NOTE: No flying on
days of total fire ban in the Eastern Region, at any of our Club Sites.

4 Yarragon - Another slope soaring site called
Kerrie Brae is in the hills above Yarragon and on private property. Excellent
for Westerly to Northerly winds and some walking is required to reach the
flying site.
