Hi, thanks for having a look at my page. My name is Wayne Lewis and I am currently the Treasurer, Newsletter Editor, self proclaimed Webmaster and Gold Wing Instructor of the LVMAC. I live in Morwell, Victoria and have been flying (and crashing) Radio controlled Model Aircraft since 1978. I have always had an interest in Aeroplanes for as long as I can remember. My Dad was in the RAAF and my brothers and I started with control line models when we were kids. I joined the RAAF and as my kids got older I decided to build and fly again, but this time R/C was much more interesting for me. I started out in R/C with the Sale & District Model Aero Club, left the RAAF in 1981 and moved to the Latrobe Valley a couple of years later where I joined the LVMAC.

 I am a Gold Wing Instructor and I have taught heaps of people of varying ages to fly R/C models. I am currently flying a World Models Cap 232 with an OS50SX engine, an ESM 84” Cessna 152 with an OS120AX engine, a Neptune Floatplane with OS46FX engine, a Sea Monster Floatplane with OS50SX engine, a 72” Extra 260 with 26cc SPE gas engine, a Sky Raider Mach II with an OS50 SX engine, a GunnFighter with OS15LA engine and I have a few more gliders and power models hanging in the shed. I am into aerobatics and teaching people to fly, but I am not that interested in competition. I am quite happy with what I can do and I have no ambition to be the best at anything in aeromodelling……………….... no pressure that way !

I also seem to be the test pilot for a lot of new models and I have probably flown well over 180 different model aircraft of all shapes & sizes, trainers to Scale Models, on land and off the water. Some have been absolute dogs to fly but most have been really good to fly. Some have crashed also. ( There is a saying….if you fly, you crash. If you don’t crash you aren’t flying enough)

I am not a builder and I would rather be flying in a Flight Simulator or doing this web page than actually building a Model. So these days I only fly ARF Models and even an ARF take me ages to put together !

It’s a great hobby for me and I love flying !
