As some of you may know, while I was in Korea in 2005 I decided to make a trip over

to see some glimpse of China. Here are some of the things that I found and saw there.
Now, China is a pretty big place, and more diverse than one would think for being one country (though some would say that it really is a montage of many different countries which have then been moulded together by conquest for some centuries). I was only in Beijing and some local areas, so its impossible to make generalisations. However you can be sure that by walking around "unguided" you'll see different things to what you'll see if you go on a tour where you're "protected" to some extent.
We also went out of Beijing for a bit to see some of the country side, we went to Pingyao where we stayed for 3 days. Its near Taiyuan but I can't at the moment locate it better than this google maps link.
