Vineyard

Valley Farm Vineyard was established in 1996 by Louise and Greg Dunnett.

For many years the fruit was grown under contract for Berringer Blass Group's, Yarra Ridge winery and the prestigious Californian brand, Labyrinth. In 2007, Greg teamed up with highly acclaimed winemaker, Luke Houlihan to form Trellis Wines, specialising in high end single vineyard wines.

Wine Touring

Get a candid insight on the Yarra Valley wineries when you tour with local vignerons..For those not wanting to drink and drive we do provide guided tours, competitively priced and guaranteed more informative than your regular tour operator. Tours cater for 2 to 10 adults

Tour 1 Pick of the Wineries

Vine to Wine cellar door tour
We start with a walk in the vines and learn the annual production cycle – the seasonal tasks required to get quality grapes to the winery. We then tour the valley and let our taste buds decide.
Tours are flexible but generally we visit a selection of 4 or 5 wineries ranging from the small family operations to larger well known brands of the Yarra. Any favourites you may have can easily be accommodated.
Day starts at a civilised 11am, (earlier if you prefer) commencing with a familiarisation of the valley and its wines, we then swirl, smell and savour few samples for the morning before we take you to one of our recommended lunch venues where you’ll have time to enjoy you own food and wine matching*. We then resume the tour, taking in a few more cellar doors. If we’re starting to get a little “wined out” we often complete the day with a cleansing ale or cider from one of the local boutique producers. Return to Valley Farm.

Tour 2 Wine buffs

A day with the winemaker (min 4 adults)
This tour is the only one of its kind, popular with wine connoisseurs
Commencing with a vineyard tour, we learn how good wine starts and why some wines cost more and some why some sites produce better fruit. At the winery we explore the many directions in which the fruit can go before it becomes finished wine. Discover those extra steps that a fastidious winemaker has to take in order to produce wines that stand out.
Barrel taste actual samples at differing stages of fermentation and experiment with barrel blending. We then take you to a couple of icon wineries where you can enjoy lunch* at your leisure.
Return to Valley Farm.

*NB: We try to keep the tours simple and good value leaving you to indulge in good wine...... so rather than lock you into the same old “fixed price” lunch venue we'd rather give you a choice of venue and menu to match food & wine. Accordingly lunch is not included with tours.
